Original Description in 2015 :
In the milling process of the select mysore sandal heart wood into powder, regular blade or continuous mills were decided against, because of the heat generated in the process adding off notes or causing heat loss of the sweet rich creamy notes of the precious raw material. in the end liquid nitrogen and a mortar and pestle did a fantastic job. (There was a couple of videos of it shared last time but i lost them when my mac crashed. )
in order to not waste the effort of the cold milling, a decidedly hot, dry windless night was the best time for the incense to be made, the sticks would dry in over an hour, minimizing the loss of volatile sandalwood notes. Everything handprocessed, the sticks are also hand extruded mechanically with a syringe, and each stick is rolled to straighten. you can see how i straighten sticks here : https://instagram.com/p/36LZaVRf1E/
the effort of 2 days of incense making, the PUREST and the most premium mysore sandalwood stick I’ve ever made. Bold, Thick, Rich, Creamy, woody, light hint of florals and airy cool notes, every bit of the incense’s smoke sings aged Mysore. this is a bold attempt at trying to dethrone other “best” sandalwood sticks that are commercially available.
Binder proportion at 14%, any lower the stick would crumble too much. The binder is a proprietary secret that has been processed in a certain way to remove spicy/sharp binder notes. the binder in this incense is quite invisible.
if you are looking for a sandalwood treat, or a stick to impress your friends, I’m certain this meets the cut 🙂
